Wednesday 21st March 2007 - PeopleSoft Portal Seminar

With the growing ubiquity of the web and internet savvy among workforces, organisations are increasingly asking how they can effectively deliver information and functionality to users beyond the corporate functions. But how do we deliver complex ERP systems to people who have day jobs, ensure they only see what they need to see, so that the information they want is immediately accessible and in a way that requires minimal training? The answer to these questions is often to use some kind of Portal.

PeopleSoft, anticipating this trend, incorporated the portal technologies of personalisation and pagelet navigation into the core products from 8.4 and then extended them with the Portal Packs, and the Community / Enterprise Portal products.

For a PeopleSoft user a valid set of questions might be, "what exactly do these products do?", "can they help my organization?" and "what have been the experiences of others?"

On the 21st of March, over twenty European and Global PeopleSoft customers attended a seminar that focused purely on the above questions. Colin McCartney from BSkyB kindly presented his experience of implementing Portal across PeopleSoft HR v8.8 (click here to see slides - 2MB). Graham Varley from Cedar Consulting also broke down the different types of functionality within Portal, Portal Pack and Enterprise Portal (click here to see slides - 4MB).

Finally, Colin Daniels from Oracle presented a demonstration on PeopleSoft Portal to the guests so they could view the system in action.

Due to the great success of this event we are considering running a second seminar for clients who were unable to attend. If you are interested in finding out more please email info@cedarconsulting.co.uk for more details.
